- In 2020 we launched our new word game with a purpose, Wormingo. Have a go, and help advance our research while having fun!
- Throughout June 2020, Prof Shalom Lappin gave a series of online lectures at CLASP on deep learning and the nature of linguistic representation.
- In December we ran the 3rd International Workshop on Rumours and Deception in Social Media (RDSM), co-located with COLING in Barcelona.
- At COLING 2020 in December we co-delivered a tutorial on ‘Detection and Resolution of Rumors and Misinformation with NLP’.
- Throughout 2020, we ran SemEval 2020 Task 3 on Graded Word Similarity in Context – check out the details and get the data here.
2019
- On 14-16th October, we helped organise SLSP 2019 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
- On 4-6th September, we hosted LondonLogue, the 23rd SemDial workshop on the semantics and pragmatics of dialogue here at QMUL.
- In August 2019, we organised a Workshop on Semantic Spaces at the Intersection of NLP, Physics, and Cognitive Science at ESSLLI 2019 in Riga, Latvia. This was jointly organised by Martha Lewis (ILLC), Dan Marsden (Oxford) and Sadrzadeh (QMUL). It was a third in the series of workshops CAPNS2018 and SEMSO2016.
- In August 2019, we taught two courses at ESSLLI 2019 in Riga, Latvia: (1) Vector Space Models of Meaning, by Lewis (ILLC) and Sadrzadeh (QMUL), and (2) Incremental Language Processing in Dialogue Systems by Eshghi (Heriot-Watt) and Hough (QMUL).
- On 29-30th August, we helped to host VIHAR 2019, the 2nd International Workshop on Vocal Interactivity in-and-between Humans, Animals and Robots here at QMUL.
- On 24th May, we co-organised the IWCS 2017 workshop on Vector Semantics for Dialogue & Discourse in Gothenburg.
2018
- We teach 2 NLP courses in the academic year 2018-2019:
- A core NLP module covering the basic statistical, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic methods in NLP, in the fall semester (Sept-Dec 2018).
- An advanced NLP module going over the neural network technology available for NLP tasks, in the winter semester (Jan-April 2019).
- In June 2018 the DALI project organised the NAACL workshop CRAC: Computational Models of Reference, Anaphora, and Coreference.
2017
- In July 2017 we hosted the 15th Meeting on the Mathematics of Language (MoL).
- In July 2017 we co-organised (with UCL) the 24th Workshop in Logic Language Information and Computation (WoLLIC).
- At ESSLLI we delivered a one-week course at “Introduction to Categorical Compositional Distributional Semantics“. Instructors: Dimitri Kartsaklis, Martha Lewis.
2016
- On 11/12/2016 we held a tutorial at COLING 2016 on “Compositional Distributional Models of Meaning” (instructors: M. Sadrzadeh, D. Kartsaklis)
- The Workshop on Computational Creativity in Natural Language Generation took place on 5/6 September 2016 at the University of Edinburgh. It was a workshop of INLG 2016.
- The Workshop on Statistical and Logical Models of Meaning took place from 11 to 15 of July 2016 at Rutgers University, New Jersey. It was a workshop of NASSLLI 2016.
- The Workshop on Semantic Spaces at the Intersection of NLP, Physics and Cognitive Science took place on 11th of June 2016 at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland). Invited speakers: Hans Briegel, Peter Gärdenfors, Dominic Widdows. The workshop website provides links to the official EPTCS proceedings and to video recordings of the talks.
